#7219 Musharraf suffers heart problem on way to treason hearing "Well Played"

Posted by Ahmad\ on 02 January 2014 - 04:26 PM

As a former Karachitte, born and brought up...I will forever be Ihsaanmand of Gen Musharraf for what he did for the city and it's people in particular, and the the country in general. May Allah restore his health, and ease his way towards fast recovery (Ameen). No matter what propaganda anyone try to come up with against Musharraf, I personally will never lose faith in him and his commitment to the country.

May the politicians of Pakistan rot in hell, along with the extremists and their servants & supportive political entities.

Sab se Pehle Pakistan  :mush:

#15343 ICC World Cup 2015 - [Discussion & Highlights Thread]

Posted by adil_909 on 21 February 2015 - 07:57 AM

these idiots should remember that they were part of the team that got off to the worst start in ODI cricket history at 1/4. it's so humiliating. these guys have no shame, no courage. you're right, misbah deserves a better ODI send off than this. i'm happy that akmal should some maturity for once, and maqsood looks a sensible player, but our top order should seriously just quit. i honest am starting to think if we should open with wahab riaz and mohammad irfan, even they probably wouldn't suck as much as this.

AND WHICH IDIOT APPROVED NASIR JAMSHED TO JOIN THIS TEAM?!

you know what the best part of all this is?

saeed ajmal and fawad alam are sitting at home on their couches, while our batsmen can't make runs and our bowlers can't take wickets.

UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

#13301 Malala wins Nobel Peace Prize!

Posted by Sarmad on 11 October 2014 - 08:08 AM

I usually write out nice sentences with commas, semicolons, and all the trimmings... too tired for that atm lol.

1. congrats to malala, an innocent, intelligent, and courageous person.

2. it goes without saying that the peace prize is politicized.

as such, people who perpetuate a certain world image or agenda will get more attention

...and so what? if we seriously rate our heroes based on what others think, we've got real problems fellas.

3. quite obvious that malala was propped up instantaneously, and universally. nabila rehman was shunned.

again, no surprise. do we really expect the west to not keep its own interests in mind for their own award?

4. adil, volterwight, and ahmad are all correct. adil is, because unlike sharmeen obaid chinoy's oscar arguably being about perpetuating all that is wrong, malala's award is for something good. volterwight and ahmad are right because, to be very blunt, she really didn't do anything to warrant the award.

5. i hope malala, being an outspoken person, can break free of the shackles of the profit-minded private education NGOs swooning over her and the millions they get their hands on through her namesake fund.

#7469 Where are you on the political spectrum?

Posted by lahoriii on 06 January 2014 - 06:55 PM

from what i have seen, conservative desis magically become liberal once they get to western countries.

conservatives of two different countries/cultures hardly get along whereas liberals, especially ones who aren't nationalists, generally do.

#6454 language on forums

Posted by adil_909 on 23 December 2013 - 08:01 PM

salaam everyone,

as a mod/admin on pakmusic, one of the things i tried very hard to do when the forum was active was to keep tabs on the language being used on the forums. i wanted to create a space where we could have fun, but at the same time it wasn't littered with profanity so that it was appealing to kids and also to girls and women who are generally turned off by foul language. if anyone goes there now it is littered with terrible language because i gave up when it became clear that it didn't have a future. however, this forum is getting off the ground nicely, and it saddens me to see language like 'WTF' in the titles of threads. we should be careful how present ourselves. i'm not talking about being a word police, but i don't want to see this place turn back into pakmusic where there is just constant fighting between members and everyone swearing at everyone else to try and prove a point. let's keep things in check.

i would say mods/admins should set a good example for others to follow!

One of my pet peeves is when people assume "we evolved from monkeys"......or throw that line our there to debunk it with little understanding of physical anthropology or adaptation. Anyway, I'm sure y'all know this page on FB called "I f***ing love science" they posted this great factoid!

#3725 Islamic police destroy beer in north Nigerian city

Posted by maverick86 on 30 November 2013 - 09:14 AM

let me lend a little perspective. i was born in a city called maiduguri, two hours north of kano...my father worked in that area for 22 years...the place was a hub of coexistence between muslims and christians even though muslims are more numerous in the north and christians in the south. Nonetheless..this kinda stuff started happening when the saudi inspired brand of islam and madrassahs started coming over to the area.

people talk about islam being a blueprint and this and that....the point is at the end of the day it is only a viewpoint...those who subscribe to it believe it to be the be-all and end all of everything but there might be just as many who don't and what ends up happening is that you limit your talent pool when you only have one kind of philosophy guiding life in a country. Why does the state HAVE to regulate personal choices? It is very simple, live and let live....if a muslim drinks alcohol and some other muslims have made their disapproval obvious....it doesn't go beyond that because that then means that we haven't gone past the level where the pilgrims of the 17th century plymouth rock managed.

#2110 Misbah defensive after Batting Flop in South Africa

Posted by Sarmad on 20 November 2013 - 08:07 PM

That's exactly why when Shoaib Akhtar and Rashid Latif go berserk on PCB, they have absolutely valid reasons. Need to clean this mess otherwise, no improvement will happen.

Things were bad before, but are horrendous since Najam Sifaarishi Sethi took the helm. There's no reason for PCB posts to be political appointments - it should be an independent body.

The mess that is Pakistan cricket

Younis and Sharjeel submit there passports.  For go Presidents cup.  Team management Hafeez, Whatmore, Moin Khan prefer Razzler, Malik and Jamshed in team.

What a joke.  Younis gets sideline because he isn't for sale and won't play politics.  Sharjeel is tearing it up in domestic.

#13295 Malala wins Nobel Peace Prize!

Posted by Ahmad\ on 11 October 2014 - 04:47 AM

wow, the complaining started sooner than i thought

we surely are a thankless bunch

aray bhai Naraaz kyun ho rahay ho?

I think you're assuming too much here, and then sweeping statement like 'thankless bunch' isn't gonna help much either. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask question about it. I agree with Sarem that the award has lost a lot of credibility compare to Nobel prizes given for work in other disciplines. I've seen Kofi Annan winning it, Obama winning it, Gorbachev, Al Gore etc.

What Pakistanis are mostly asking is also in comparison to Edhi whose humanitarian work in one of the most dangerous places in the world is renowned world wide and is free of any political link. I don't know what the criteria is but it will give room to controversy here. May be you can give some clarification about it here.

#13070 Reza Aslan and CNN.

Posted by Ahmad\ on 30 September 2014 - 10:49 PM

Don't you just love it when you get such a tactful, intelligent and balanced answer to the widespread misleading propaganda by todays media against Muslims. I reccomend y'all to read his books if you've interest in Govt. and policy making, and international politics.

By the way to my DemoTards here, CNN is as bad as anything can be in US media. So don't just blame FOX's entertainment.
