Electric electric you are still as tolerant as a spark of 400 V generator.

One thing that you learn when you are in the states (or elsewhere...) is that you have to be open to others views.  Amir Liaqat amuses me due to his style but so does Zakir Naik.  He is a MBBS so I don't know why you worship him like he is the last muslim left on the eve of judgement day?  I think that I know the reason for it but don't expect others to hold their breath for this zakir naik.

I dont worship MBBS, or else i would be having multiple people to look upto :) Like I said its not the talk its the knowledge. Get your facts right Das Boot there is a difference in meaning. You can always look them up on

Good luck!

Zakir Naik is a turd, to put it into simple terms. The man believes those who leave islam should be put to death for speaking their mind. No room for a guy like this in today's time.

zakir naik is a pseudo-intellectual.... trained in medicine (he is an MBBS) but I do not think he has any formal instruction in religion and/or jurisprudence. That, compounded with his idiocy when discussing unrelated scientific issues through a religious lens makes him reprehensible. Reminds of that ridiculous debate between hamza tzortsis and pervez hoodbhoy at lums that ended with the 'nice' hamza insulting an academic in his field of academic accomplishment.

aamir liaquat is not even worth the paper he might write his name on.

even if you research ahmed deedat you will see that his knowledge is organic...not obtained via formal training....and i hav eno problem with that....but if we listen to these guys then we should also listen to what karen armstrong has to say about comparative religiong...she has spent her whole life studying it from an academic sense.

Sad that the likes of Pervez Hoodbhoy don't generate the sort of following they deserve in Pakistan.but instead have masses flocking more towards the likes of Zaid Hamid.

Hoodbhoy has the potential to be for Pakistan what Bill Nye, Carl Sagan and Neil deGrasse Tyson have been to the U.S.

Pushing aside the bill the science guy, how much is carl sagan and Tyson in popular culture?  Heck, the reason Tyson might be more popular is because he has a sense of humor while hoodhboy comes across as rude.

carl sagan is pretty popular....much like classical music it is rare for these guys to be 'mainstream'....they don't pander to the myth that we need to dumb shit down for people to relate to us and be available to the lowest common denominator. you are right about hoodbhoy not having a sense of humor but when the alternative is guys like orya and ansar abbasi...he shouldn't need to...those two are beyond help.

Loll, i understand why you have a preference towards Hoodbhoy- but I have heard him and he really lacks strong points. His debate with Hamza Tzortzis was clearly a joke and he ended up walking out of the room. He was rude and arrogant. Oh well i know you wouldnt agree  but just saying he has the potential to be a joke for Pakistan rather than those big names you just took ;)

There will always be disagreement on this subject. but It is very important to respect each others opinion. Tolerance is what we needed to have a healthy discussion.

Though I must add that non-serious attitude of people like Hamza Tzortzis and Zakir Naik towards reasoning is what made me to seek my own reaffirmation through research, and not to blindly follow these 'so called' scholars on Islam. Islam doesn't dictate to shut down window of question and reasoning, and I find these entities preach just exactly that.

I think I was wrong about Zakir naik if i mentioned he was a scholar but I dont think Hamz Tzortzis is. He is mainly a preacher and has really done a good job in debating with atheists . In the end of the day, those arguments always got down to name calling and really a poor show from his opponents. Not sure if anyone has watched "The Big Debate" of Hamza vs Prof Lawrence *for more reference please watch this (http://youtu.be/uSwJuOPG4FI)
It is through his arguments, I have learned a lot. And yes islam doesnt do that, it surprises me how you can find answers to many things right from the Qur'an. But then again it is through the Qur'an people deviate or get guided.

P.S- i dont know how to embed links so if someone can tell me how to I will appreciate it :$

Actually I think hoodbhoy sb doesn't have the social skills or charisma to debunk the tzortsis's properly. If you really look at the last five to ten mins of the debate you will see how demeaning arrogant and downright confrontational hamza became - as did the nincompoops from the lums 'religion' society. mera sawaal simple hai...agar aap ko koi hijab pehennay namaz parhnay rozay rakhnay sai nai rok raha hai to aap ko kya haq pohanchta hai kai aap kisi kai libaas....or preference for beverages, or interaction with another gender ko police karein (yes some idiot girl at lums decided to b*tch about PDA)

I remember watching Krauss debate Hamza. Krauss ate him alive completely.

Hamza's been shown up for his lack of scientific knowledge time and time again, he had the same issue with PZ Myers as well where PZ Myers showed him up too in regards to embryology and Hamza's lack of knowledge.

Why does Hamza time and time agan put himself up against individuals with such strong scientific backgrounds and knowledge only to be made to look like a total doofus.

He only loses legitimacy. He should stick with theological arguments otherwise he just gets shown his place when he starts involving himself in scientific arguments.

I'd love to when i find the time to discuss this with you :P I know where the discussion leads to so I will not engage in one right now. And truth be told, i wtched that debate along time ago so I dont know specific stuff . But if Hoodbhoy was really that convincing he wouldnt walk away crying like an immature lad "You are a liar" and "Shut up!"  :heh: .
